Once upon a time when Thrive Creative Studio was just in it’s infancy, I met a nice family with three sons and took some very sweet brother pictures. Matt is the oldest of the crew. I was so happy to run into Matt’s mother recently and find out that Matt was now a senior and ready for some senior pictures. We had a great morning shoot in Westport and even got a shot of mother and son! Lovely!

I mean she brought her adorable, freshly fluffed up dog, her guitar and cowboy hat, cheerleading uniform and a couple amazing outfits. So, it was that really crazy hot and humid weekend in June when Jamie’s senior picture session was planned. We were supposed to begin her portrait session at like 5:30 pm, but since I didn’t have a booking in the morning I suggested we change it to beat some of the heat. Half joking, I stated that the most perfect light was around 6:30 am. I’ve never had a senior want to do a session at 6:30 in the morning…..until Jamie! The light was awesome and even though it was still pretty hot even at 7:00 in the morning, it was a scorcher later that day and I was so thankful that she took me up on the suggestion. We totally lucked out that the gardener was at Kauffman Gardens that early to also beat the heat and get his watering done. Their sign says they are open “Dawn to Dusk”, so I figured dawn is….well, dawn. Turns out that dawn is 8:00 am, but he was kind enough to let us come in and shoot, but warned me to not plan any more 6:30 am shoots at Kauffman. Will do, kind gardener, will do.

pardeep – college graduation pictures | kansas city creative photography

Yesterday I posted images of Pardeep’s sister, Navdeep. Both are coming upon monumental achievements in life; a high school graduation and Pardeep’s college graduation from UMKC. They each did a Sweet & Simple Session and spent an hour each with me on separate days creating pictures that were special for them. For Navdeep, we headed to the city streets, but for Pardeep, we went to one of the most beautiful gardens in Kansas City. We went early to beat the heat and had a lovely time. Pardeep is just beautiful and her images reflect that!
