Good day! I am Heidi Abbott, the sole photographer/editor/administrator/website designer/social networker of Thrive Creative Studio and Thrive Seniors! I am so thrilled to be heading into my 5th year in business – woot! In the past five years, I have been blessed by a “thriving” business and in meeting, photographing and connecting with so many amazing high school seniors and families. In 2011, I was busy as a bee shooting over 130 senior portrait sessions, as well as several weddings and other portrait opportunities.
On January 1st of this year, I moved into an amazing studio! I took over a sweet and charming 2,000 square foot farm home that was converted to a photography studio 11 years ago. It sits on an acre of beautifully landscaped grounds at 119th Street and Renner Boulevard and is so convenient to my clients that come from all over Kansas City. I have some great big plans for making great things happen here! This brings me to my announcement:
Thrive Creative Studio is looking for an intern to join the fun and creativity! I know the value of interning. As a college senior, I interned for Ohio Magazine and learned valuable, life-long lessons in business and design. I actually ended up being hired by them six months after graduation. It was worth every minute! Here are a few details about the what’s and when’s of Thrive’s Intern Position.
What will a Thrive Intern do and learn:
Administrative:
- Data/client entry into client management software
- Filing
- Packaging and preparing client orders
- Making reminder/pick up calls to clients
- Errands
- Other fun stuff!
Creative:
- Assisting on shoots
- Web site and social networks updating
- Some editing
Other:
- Researching new products
- Having a blast!
Start Date: February 1, 2012
End Date: April 31, 2012
Location: At the Studio, 11690 Renner Blvd, Lenexa KS and on location for some shoots.
Hours: 12-15 hours per week, hours and days flexible (Closed on Sundays)
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship, although it can be applied toward school credit if your university or school permits. The value of an internship cannot be measured. The running of a photography business consists of so much more than taking pictures and editing them. You will gain immeasurable insight into the functioning of a successful photography studio.
Qualifications:
Just a couple of things that I am looking for in the right person:
- Great attitude! Someone positive and happy. You should be eager to learn and teachable.
- Organized! Someone who has an eye for detail and likes to be organized.
- Creative! Someone who has a desire to be creative and work in a creative environment.
- Committed! Even though the hours are flexible, you should be someone who can make the internship a priority on your schedule and be committed to being here when expected.
